This series of sculptural gestures is prompted by an interest in locating the parallels between human vulnerability and material vulnerabilities unique to glass.

As a formal term for surrendering ownership, the title Cessions culminates in a body of objects created with a healthy irreverence towards the tenets of skill acquisition, technical excellence, and “mastery” within contemporary craft practice, examining those things through chance-based engagements with time and temperature ranges.  Strictly formed, symmetrical vessel bodies made by me are then permitted a moment to contort and posture as extravagantly as they wish in the kiln afterward.
