Translating a video observance with the Manufacturing, Technology, & Engineering Materials Laboratory at Corning, Incorporated into a still photograph.  Imaging software was used to trace the movement of a cup subject’s (un)doing when placed in various positions and orientations within an active kiln (operating at 1250F).  The resulting "map" of each cup subject's course of movement emulating a geist’s passage through space and produced as a transparent, backlit photograph.

The condition of each cup subject is displayed next to its illuminated image.  Correspondence between artist and a distant colleague places studio observance of material surrender within personal circumstances of vulnerability.
