Meaningful Gibberish Project
Combustible Drop Cloths
Blown Glass; Paper, MDF, Papier-mâché H: 20”, W: 84”, D: 12” 2018 Photo Credit: Elizabeth Lamark A project that seeks to use a low-tech approach in mapping various energy changes of heat and stress within unannealed byproducts of the blown glass process. 3 residue catches composed of varying combustible materials were placed below my bench during a 6-hour work period on 3 separate occasions (each work period in repetitive pursuit of a cup of specific design).
Each drop cloth recorded and measured the nature of exothermic energies between it and the hot glass residue through the density of coloration and depth of their burning. |
